Basking Ridge, located in Somerset County, New Jersey, is a picturesque suburban community with a unique blend of historical charm and modern convenience. While the name of the town is technically Bernards Township, and Basking Ridge is just the largest section of Bernards Township, residents generally refer to the town as "Ridge" or "Basking Ridge." The local high school is Ridge High School.

Basking Ridge is one of the five towns that make up the Somerset Hills area. The other four are Bernardsville, Bedminster, Far Hills, and Peapack and Gladstone.

Bernards Township is made up of several unique sections, including Basking Ridge, Liberty Corner, and Lyons. Basking Ridge is known for its tree-lined streets and historic architecture, while Liberty Corner offers a somewhat more laid-back, rural vibe. Lyons brings a mix of affordability and accessibility, catering to a broad range of lifestyles and housing preferences.

Outdoors enthusiasts will feel right at home with the Bernards Township Parks and Recreation department. Lord Stirling Park features a horse stable, dog walks, serene walking trails and a nature center perfect for weekend adventures. Pleasant Valley Park is a hub for outdoor activities, offering sports fields, picnic areas, a popular summer pool, seasonal events, and more. Nearby trails for additional hiking options are plentiful in places like Natirar County Park, Jockey Hollow, Hacklebarney State Park, and the Great Swamp Wildlife Refuge.

New Jersey Transit services both the Basking Ridge Station and the Lyons Station in Bernards Township. For those who commute by car, Basking Ridge's proximity to Interstate 78 and Interstate 287 is a major advantage.

Founded in 1760, Bernards Township is steeped in history, with significant ties to the Revolutionary War. The iconic Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church and the rest of the town center help give the town its unique character and charm.

Basking Ridge has plenty of restaurants available. Somewhat limited shopping options in town are easily augmented by what is available in nearby towns, such as Bernardsville and Bridgewater.

Washington House Restaurant provides a fine dining atmosphere with modern American cuisine, and for those looking for Asian flavors, Ling Ling Riverwalk Chinese Cuisine is a popular choice.
