Short Hills

Short Hills is an unincorporated community and census-designated place located within Millburn Township, in Essex County, New Jersey.

Short Hills residents enjoy quiet streets, local parks, and a strong sense of community, with active local organizations and events that cater to families and residents, and its local school district - Millburn Township Public Schools - is extremely well regarded.

Renowned for its affluence and exclusivity, it is one of the wealthiest communities in the state. The area boasts stately homes, manicured lawns, and an abundance of trees, contributing to its picturesque suburban landscape.

Short Hills also features a popular upscale shopping mall, the Mall at Short Hills, which offers a variety of luxury retailers and dining options. Essex County has done a remarkable job of slowly updating and expanding the facilities and the animals that call it home. For example, the library hosts a winter reading challenge for all age groups. South Mountain Reservation, an Essex County Park, Watchung Reservation, and Morristown National Historical Park, which includes Jockey Hollow. Additionally, the Great Swamp Wildlife Refuge is easily accessible from Short Hills.
