History of Katonah

Katonah, a charming hamlet in the town of Bedford, Westchester County, New York, boasts a rich history that dates back to the 19th century. Originally situated closer to the current location of the Cross River Reservoir, the community was moved in the 1890s to make way for the expansion of New York City's water supply system. This remarkable relocation involved moving numerous buildings via rail and horse-drawn platforms to the hamlet's present site.
